More On Trip Prep…

At the end of each of these blogs I say I will write more but never do. So I decided to fill in a bit more as we get near and the actual journey on what stood out as we get ready. As trips go this one was easy to plan and execute, Nancy and her crew at Ladera Travel had our back with advise (and patience) and I recommend them for your travel plans. This trip involves renting a car which means self-navigation and I realized this is an area that stands out in this trip like it did in others that involved a car, we use a Garmin system to navigate which works out quite well but involves a little advance thought. Garmin has comprehensive listings however the entry is usually posted in the language of the destination country or there is some other (minor) complication that may prevent a quick search. So do not leave this to the last minute or worse, while you are on the road. As an example we have an itinerary that states we are staying at Hôtel de la Cité in Carcassonne however the Garmin has this stop listed as ‘De la Cité‘ in the hotel category and this may have added an unnecessary complication if we did the search while on the road. A small example but our trips are full of odd searches that are easy but require just a little more time. So do drive, take a Nav system but give yourself time before you leave to set up your system. IMHO.
