Midnight In Barcelona
July 5, 2012
- Landfall near Cherbourg
- Sydney in her ‘compartment’.
- Hotel Casa Fuster
- Casa Batlló
- Sydney learning how to preserve wine.
A little nod to Mr. Allen, after a bite and a nap it was time for a walk-about. Since we are all dragging a little we got out late in the evening which is perfect in Barcelona. Thursdays is Jazz Night at Café Vienés, the hotel lobby bar so the joint was jumping when we when down. The band tonight was Biel Ballester Gypsy Trio who were featured in Woody Allen’s movie Vicky Cristina Barcelona. Tight group, wonderful to hear even for a few minutes.
Time to wander. One of the reasons we are here is to see buildings designed by Antoni Gaudí and a warm Mediterranean night made for a pleasant stroll to see the few that are near the hotel. Barcelona has some architecture we have seen on our trips, many riches for the eyes. Then it was time for some ‘refreshments’ then back to the hotel. The Casa Fuster is in line with the rich architecture of Barcelona with a great staff. At least so far. 🙂 Recommended.
One last mention on the flight over, again we were lucky. We managed to move upstairs on the flight which had space for 60 but was less than half full. Everyone was able to spread out and Sydney had a row to herself. She was reluctant at first to not sit with us until we told her she could have three tvs to herself. That sold her. Yup, thats parenting for you….
